During the many years of development of the game, By Fire and Sword has received over a hundred illustrations. Very different illustrations, painted by many artists. Scenes and individual characters. Graphics in color or black and white. Painted digitally and traditionally. But all of them are result of our passion and love for the era.
We decided to collect all these illustrations and publish them as an album "Art of By Fire and Sword". And, we'll also add some new ones that you have not seen so far :)
The illustrations themselves, of course, are not everything, We will wrap them with our historical commentary. The comments will take different forms - sometimes it will be a description of the unit, sometimes information about the battle, sometimes a biography of the commander, and sometimes we will comment on what the soldier pictured on illustration are wearing and what they are armed with. Sometimes we will share an interesting fragment of a primary source from 17th century, or a trivia or general information about the military. Who know, maybe even a short story? As you can see, there are lot of different things , but this is due to the fact that we want to let ourselves be guided by the illustrations, not illustrate any particular story.
This is also by no means a painting guide. Of course, you'll find plenty of information about uniforms and weapons, and general painting hints (bright green hats, that's not the best idea...), but it certainly won't tell you what paint, from what company to use to paint a reiter's buff coat.
As for the technical details: the book will be A4 (horizontal) format and a minimum of 144 pages in hardcover. It will be a perfect gift for any fan of 17th century military history, even if they don't play By Fire and Sword.

Podczas wielu lat rozwoju gry, Ogniem i Mieczem doczekało się grubo ponad setki ilustracji. Bardzo różnych ilustracji, malowanych przez wielu artystów. Scen i pojedynczych postaci. Grafik kolorowych i czarno-białych. Malowanych cyfrowo i tradycyjnie. Wszystkie jednak są świadectwem naszej pasji i miłości do epoki.
Postanowiliśmy te wszystkie grafiki zgromadzić i wydać w postaci albumu "Art of By Fire and Sword". I przy okazji dołożyć jeszcze kilka nowych, których do tej pory nie widzieliście :)
Same grafiki to oczywiście nie wszystko, Opatrzymy je naszym komentarzem historycznym. Komentarze będą miały różną formę - czasem będzie to opis formacji, czasem informacje o bitwie, czasem życiorys dowódcy a czasami skomentujemy co bohaterowie ilustracji maja na sobie i w co są uzbrojeni. Czasem podzielimy się ciekawym fragmentem źródła z epoki albo ciekawostką lub ogólną informacją na temat wojskowości. Ba, może i trafi się jakieś opowiadanie. Jak widzicie rozstrzał tematów jest bardzo duży, ale wynika to z tego, że chcemy dać się poprowadzić ilustracjom, a nie zilustrować jakąś konkretną historię.
Nie jest to również w żadnym wypadku poradnik malarski. Oczywiście znajdziecie tu liczne informacje o barwie i broni, oraz ogólne podpowiedzi dotyczące malowania (hej, jaskrawozielone kapelusze, to nie jest najlepszy pomysł...), ale z całą pewnością nie będzie tam informacji, jakiej farbki, z jakiej palety użyć do pomalowania koletu rajtara.
Jeśli chodzi o szczegóły techniczne: książka będzie miała format A4 (poziomy) i 144 strony (a znając nas zapewne znacznie więcej) w twardej oprawie. Będzie to idealny prezent dla każdego fana siedemnastowiecznej historii wojskowości, nawet jeśli tematy figurkowe są mu odlegle.
